Alitalia will operate its final flight today before ending service after 74 years. New airline Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) will mostly pick up where Alitalia leaves off. The final Alitalia flight is scheduled to be AZ1586 from Cagliari to Rome. It is scheduled to depart at 22:05 local time, arriving in Rome at 23:10.

Alitalia has served as Italy’s national airline for 74 years, but experienced more than its share of financial challenges and troubles over the years. It has been in extraordinary administration for the past 4 years. In August, Alitalia announced it would cease operations in October, with Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA) becoming the successor airline.
