Aerolíneas Argentinas has, of course, put Lionel Messi front and center on the tail of its special World Cup livery A330.
Brussels Airlines has unveiled a refreshed livery supporting its national football teams after the retirement of their previous special livery aircraft in October. The Brussels Airlines A320 boasts support for both the men’s and women’s national teams.
GOL has a long traditional of special liveries and support for the Brazilian national team is no exception. This year’s special livery adorns a 737-800 and features jerseys from five of Brazil’s players on each side of the aircraft.
Lufthansa may be the most well-known airline when it comes to special liveries for the World Cup. The airline’s Fanhansa Siegerflieger 747-8I flight carrying the German team home after winning the 2014 World Cup was one of the most tracked flights ever at the time.
This year’s aircraft is an A330 in a Fanhansa Diversity Wins special scheme.
Qatar is hosting this year’s World Cup and has been actively promoting it with a special livery on this 777 plus decals on aircraft across its fleet.
Royal Air Maroc’s 787 features a stylized lion’s head as the official carrier of the Atlas Lions, Morocco’s national football team.
With five players along the fuselage and Official carrier of the Carthage Eagles, Tunisair enters the special World Cup livery rankings with its A320neo.
